Body To Body Networks – The Future Of The Phone

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010
The future ultra-high-bandwidth mobile internet infrastructure could rely on signals being passed from person to person through novel sensors, according to a wireless communications expert from Queen’s University Belfast. Dr Simon Cotton from the wireless communications research group at Queen’s University is leading a five-year £550,000 project, sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering and EPSRC, aimed at modelling how signals could propagate from one person to another through sensors either worn on the body or in a mobile phone. Once the results of the research are published next year, he said, it will provide a ‘foundation stone’ for wireless systems designers wishing to develop enabling technology. Cotton believes that body-to-body networks (BBNs) will create a new paradigm for mobile communications. ‘We’re going from person to person as opposed to going from mobile phone to base station back down to another person,’ he said. If the idea takes off, BBNs could lead to a reduction in the number of base stations needed to service mobile phone users, particularly in areas of high population density. Cotton added that BBNs would also reduce mobile power consumption because signals will not have to travel as far. ‘I think a mobile handset in the 900MHz peak power will be maybe 2W,’ he said. ‘So if you’re only transmitting to someone tens or hundreds of metres away you may only need 1 milliwatt. It’s pretty substantial.’ Cotton estimates that it could take five to 10 years for this kind of mobile communications infrastructure to take off. He admitted that it will require some convincing. ‘The mobile network providers might not be too keen on this; on the fact that if I am using some proprietary wireless technology to transmit from person to person, I might not always be using the base station and they might not be able to bill me for it,’ he said. ‘So I guess it’s going to be controversial.’ Cotton hopes that the industry will see some of the greater social benefits of the availability of BBNs. The quality of healthcare, for example, could be improved significantly through the use of bodyworn sensors for the widespread, routine monitoring and treatment of illness away from medical centres. This could hopefully reduce the current strain on health budgets and help make healthcare at home for the elderly a reality. Other potential uses include precision monitoring of athletes, real-time tactical training in team sports and mobile gaming. Cotton and his team have already worked with clients such as the UK Ministry of Defence to develop futuristic communications systems incorporating arrays of highly specialised body-worn antennas for frontline troops. He believes that the ability to send data from soldier to soldier could help locate troops when GPS is not an option. ‘You don’t need a dedicated infrastructure network to do that, which you might not always have in combat situations,’ he said. Cotton, who has been working in this research area since 2004, described BBNs as the ‘new frontier of wireless communications.’ ‘It’s only in the last six to 10 years that people have actually started thinking “hang on, we can actually put these wireless devices directly on the human body”,’ he said. ‘There are so many exciting applications. It’s a very exciting emerging area and it’s a good place to be at.’ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

Apple And Google Rumoured Clash For Boku

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010
Apple and Google are rumoured to be going head-to-head in a battle to acquire San Francisco-based mobile payments firm, Boku. According to sources at US website TechCrunch, Boku’s senior management team have held talks with both camps in recent weeks, prompting speculation of a bidding war between the two tech giants similar to when they both went after AdMob last year (a race eventually won by Google). Sources say the successful company may need to pay up to US$450 million to acquire Boku, though this would be relatively small beer for the likes of Apple, which is sitting on an estimated US$50 billion war chest. None of the parties involved have confirmed the story; Sources say that discussions are still at an early stage and - in the case of Google – could relate to a partnership rather than an acquisition. Both Apple and Google are understood to be looking to beef up their standing in the mobile payments space, which makes Boku a particularly attractive target. TechCrunch notes that the start-up has received US$38 million in funding from a slew of big-name investors such as Benchmark Capital, Khosla Ventures, Index Ventures, DAG Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz. It also boasts relationships with several major global operators, which it claims gives it access to 1.6 billion consumers worldwide. Last week, Boku struck a deal with AT&T that lets subscribers buy music, movies and other digital goods by typing in their phone number instead of using a bank card or PayPal account. It struck a similar deal recently with Vodafone UK. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

Windows Phone 7 Means No Fring App Development

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010
Windows Phone 7 may be the sexiest new mobile operating system Microsoft has released since, well, Pocket PC 2000. But while it has a slick new interface, an excellent new browser, and other compelling features, it lacks some of the features Windows Mobile users have grown used to over the past decade. That includes copy and paste support, multitasking, and easily removable storage. Developers are also discovering that the tools Microsoft offers for writing third party apps have some interesting limitations. For instance, developers cannot write apps that have full access to the camera on Windows Phone 7 handsets. As a result, Fortune reports that the developers of the popular augmented reality app makers Layer will not be building a version for Windows Phone 7. Likewise, Fring, a company that offers voice and video chat for the iPhone, Android, Symbian, and other platforms won’t be able to make a full featured WP7 version. It’s possible that Microsoft could issue an update eventually that will add support for third party camera apps. After all, the company has already promised that copy and paste support will arrive next year, so clearly someone at Microsoft is working to fill in the blanks. But this seems like a pretty big omission at a time when camera-based apps are big business on other mobile platforms. Right now, third party apps an take photos with the camera… but that’s about all they can do. On the other hands, most reviews I’ve read of Windows Phone 7 point out that taking pictures on the platform is easier than on pretty much any other type of smartphone. Microsoft requires manufacturers to include a dedicated camera button on their phones, so all you have to do is click the button to open the camera app and click it again to take a picture. It’s just as easy as using any digital camera. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

5.3 bn Phone Users By End Of This Year

Friday, October 22nd, 2010
The world will have 5.3 billion mobile phone subscribers by the end of the year, the International Telecommunications Union has predicted in a new report, publicised at its annual conference in Guadalajara, Mexico. The report said that mobile phone networks are already available to over 90 percent of the world's population. Mobile phone penetration in developed countries is 68 percent, a saturation level higher than any previous technology. Internet access is also exploding, the report found. The number of internet users has doubled over the past five years and will reach 2 billion by the end of 2010. An estimated 1.6 billion people have home internet access, up from 1.4 billion people at the end of 2009. But there's still a huge gulf between the first and third worlds. By the end of 2010, 71 percent of the population in developed countries will be online by the end of the year, compared to 21 percent of the population in developing countries. While in developed countries 65 percent of people have access to the Internet at home, this is the case for only 13.5 percent of people in developing countries where Internet access in schools, at work and public locations is critical. Regional differences are significant: 65 percent of Europeans are on the Internet, compared to only 9.6 percent of Africans. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

iPhone Beats BlackBerry For Sales

Thursday, October 21st, 2010
Smartphone sales have risen 78% since a year ago, with sales of Apple's iPhone overtaking RIM's BlackBerry, according to Strategy Analytics. Apple sold 14.1 million iPhones while RIM sold 12.4 million BlackBerry phones during the July to September quarter. World leader Nokia sold 26.5 million handsets and kept its lead in the newer smartphone market. Touchscreen and other component shortages failed to curb the sales surge. Other smartphone makers collectively sold 24.1 million handsets. About half of these were made by Sony Ericsson, with Samsung and HTC catching up fast. These three increasingly use the expanding Android system. RIM's growth rate of 46% was its fastest ever, but Apple's growth far outstrips its rivals. Sales of its iPhone almost doubled. RIM's Jim Balsillie has questioned the validity of the sales comparison, saying its fiscal quarter ended on 28 August, while Apple's ended on 25 September. He says September is a month in which sales are typically stronger than in August. Nokia smartphone sales were still strong, rising by 61%, but Strategy Analysis says Nokia's share of the smartphone market is at a low of 34%. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

Pay By Mobile To Double In Five Years

Monday, October 11th, 2010
The adoption of NFC (Near Field Communication) and demand from emerging markets will help Asia’s mobile payments market to double in five years, says Frost & Sullivan. Mobile transactions will rise from $1.6 billion in 2009 to $3.6 billion in 2014, the research firm predicts. SMS-based payments, which accounted for nearly 82 % of the total last year, will remain the dominant channel until 2015, dropping to about 67%, F&S said. The proportion of NFC payments will grow from 12% to 23%. Industry analyst Shaker Amin said the adoption of m-banking was increasing rapidly in less-developed mobile markets such as China, India and the Philippines, because of the limited availability of traditional banking services in rural areas. “Even in emerging markets such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka - although limited to mostly SMS-based bill payments and micro credit transfers - m-payments re increasingly becoming popular,” he said. Markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan had shown little interest in m-payments to date, but this would change as a result of NFC, Amin said. ”NFC will find wide popularity, and quickly too, in developed markets where mobile penetration rates and the use of smart cards for contactless payments are already high, and rallying the supporting infrastructure is relatively easier (than in developing countries),” he said. But he said the mobile payment value chain was “quite often embattled with issues of which vested party plays the bigger role” and infrastructure interoperability issues between banks, application service providers’ and mobile operators’ platforms. But m-payments meant new revenue streams for operators, lower cash handling costs for banks and faster transaction times for merchants, he said. Major payment firms were already providing contactless payment services via mobile phones, while banks are also keen to jump on the NFC bandwagon - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

Android Continues It’s Clime In Mobile Marketshare

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010
Android is steadily scaling the wall of almost every report we’ve seen lately, and the most recent report from the mobile ad network Millenial Media doesn’t show anything different for the smartphone OS made by search engine giant Google. Since January, Android’s mobile ad consumption has increased almost 1000%, thanks to the slew of new handsets coming out from every nook, corner, and cranny. Millenial Media’s August report shows that iOS devices are the top dogs with a decent lead, but fell 7% from July, giving them a 48% share of the US market. Android happily lapped that up, and gained 7% in the month of August, giving the Google mobile operating system a total market share of 26%. As the months continue, and more handsets are released, along with the debut of Android tablets, we can expect this market share to only increase. Much of Android’s success comes from one device. You guessed it, the Motorola Droid. Out of the top 20 phones in the report, the Droid grabbed the number 2 spot, only behind the iPhone. That said, the iPhone accounted for 27.67% of the market in the report, where the Droid stood at 9.44%. You’ll also find more Android devices filling up the top 20 handsets, including the Droid Incredible, the HTC MyTouch Magic (MyTouch 3G), G1, Cliq, and Hero. It’ll be interesting to see what phones make the list as time goes on, and how many Android handsets can make the cut. So in the end, the report doesn’t tell us anything we don’t already know. The Android army is slowly catching up to iOS devices. And, keep in mind that we haven’t really even seen what the little green robot is going to do once the flood of upcoming tablets hit the market this holiday season and early next year. Also, Windows Phone 7 is right around the corner, and we’re wondering what Microsoft will do to other smartphone operating systems’ market shares. In any case, iOS and Android are ruling the market in the US. Is it a little too late in the eyes of the consumer to welcome the newcomer, WP7? We don’t have much longer to wait to find out. BlackBerry Is Doomed?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
BlackBerry is doomed, says another analyst. For the past year, we've been arguing that Research In Motion (RIMM) is in trouble. The smartphone leader is rapidly losing share to Apple and Google in the consumer market, which is where most of RIM's growth comes from. Worse, the iPhone and Android have also recently begun making inroads in RIM's core market--the enterprise. Put those trends together, and RIM looks like the next Palm--a one-time smartphone leader who lost a step in the innovation game and was quickly rendered irrelevant (with predictable effects on the stock price). We think that eventually Microsoft will buy RIM as a way of shoring up its own demolished mobile business, and the two companies' strength in the enterprise market would certainly complement each other. But the trends that are driving iPhone and Android into the corporate market are also rapidly blurring the line between "consumer" and "enterprise." Even normally optimistic Wall Street has begun to throw in the towel on RIM. The latest analyst to do so, Bernstein's Pierre Ferragu, cites several important factors: The large enterprise market is saturated (i.e., no growth there) The small-and-medium-sized enterprise market is more open to competition, and there is limited room for growth. Also, average selling prices will decline. Companies are increasingly opening up and allowing employees to use the smartphone of their choice--and, increasingly, those smartphones are iPhones and Android phones. This has two benefits: It makes the employees happy AND it saves the companies money. Here are some quotes from Ferragu, via John Paczkowski at All Things D: “The market for corporate mobile e-mail is highly penetrated and saturated outside of SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises)... Growth in the number of companies using mobile e-mail will be limited to the SME market, in which RIM is likely to suffer the most from competition. If there is still some growth in the number of users at companies already using mobile email, it is limited and we suspect it will turn into negligible value growth as it will go along with significant ASP decline.” “...Despite the company’s overall dominance of the [enterprise] segment ... 74 percent of companies with mobile e-mail have already adopted alternative platforms, including the iPhone and Android,” Ferragu explains. This phenomenon is very new: almost all these companies “opened-up” their systems in the last two years, half of them in the last 12 months. We expect these companies to progressively ramp up the installed based of non-Blackberry solutions and therefore expect increased pressure on RIM’s performance.” “Enterprise satisfaction with RIM solutions is very high, and most managers surveyed said that they expected BlackBerry products to remain innovative and competitively featured... The issue boils down to cost and consumer preferences: employees want to be able to use their own phone, and allowing them to do so presents IT & Telecom managers with a way to substantially cut their operating costs.” So what can RIM do to stop the decline? Not much, says Ferragu. It missed a step, and now the competition has blown right past. Time for RIM to sell while it still can. Hotmail Adds Exchange ActiveSync Push E-mail + Contacts + Calendar

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
Hundreds of millions of phones—including Apple's iconic iPhone—support Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, which allows your phone to be instantly updated with new e-mail, calendar entries, and contact updates. Not only has this instant updating, known as "push," been an option for Exchange/Outlook accounts from the start, Google beat Microsoft with this feature over a year ago, with its Sync technology. Now you can get this same push functionality with a Hotmail account. While the Hotmail ActiveSync capability works with iPhones, iPads, Windows Mobile 6.x phones, Windows Phone 7 phones, and Nokia E, S, and N series phones, Google Sync adds BlackBerry to the list. Hotmail's ActiveSync may work with other devices, such as Android 2.2 phones, but Android 2.1 has a known issue that prevents it from working. Microsoft claims that more devices, including Android 2.2, will be added to the tested-and-approved list in the coming months. Microsoft provides setup instructions for each approved device type on its Windows Live Solution Center site. I quickly tried the new syncing on my iPhone 3GS, and it worked as advertised for messages, contacts, and calendar entries. By default, three days worth of mail were kept in sync on the phone. And I could also still keep my Outlook/Exchange account in sync, thanks to the iOS 4's multiple account support. It even supported multiple calendars, but not to-do items. The only tricks to setting it up were to choose Microsoft Exchange as the account type and use m.hotmail.com as the server. The feature is a good fit with other new features in the lastest version of Windows Live Hotmail. If you use its Sweep function to clean up your inbox, your changes will automatically show up on your phone. The same goes for contact "de-duplication," by which you can remove multiple entries for the same person. You can read more about Exchange ActiveSync for Hotmail, as well as view a video demonstration, on the Inside Windows Live blog, where Dick Craddock, Microsoft group program manager for Windows Live Hotmail, adds that "in the coming months, we will continue to bring out new features and capabilities based on feedback from our users." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

Intel Considering Infineon Buy, Maker Of iPhone Android Chips

Friday, August 27th, 2010
Germany's Infineon Technologies AG, formed in 1999 from the spinoff of Siemens AG's semiconductor division, is among the most dominant forces in the smartphone industry. While its CPU offerings have yet to take off and dominate, every iPhone and a large number of Android smartphones use some chip (such as wireless 3G modems) from Infineon's portfolio. Now hot on the heels of its $7.68B USD acquisition of the world's top antivirus software vendor McAfee, Bloomberg reports that the world's top CPU maker Intel is preparing to purchase Infineon's wireless business. The rumored purchase price would be 1.5B € ($1.91B USD). Infineon's CPU unit and other businesses would presumably not be included in the sale. Such a purchase would give Intel fuel for its upcoming planned campaign against the ARM architecture in the smartphone arena. Intel, a firm proponent of x86 based designs, currently has no CPUs in smartphones currently on sale. Intel is working to develop scaled-down variants of its Atom platform to compete in the smartphone sector. With Infineon's mobile wireless expertise, Intel could design better x86-based system-on-a-chip (SoC) offerings to compete with similar packages from ARM. Intel could also potentially look to package "hardware security" leveraging McAfee's experience into such a SoC design. Infineon's wireless silicon designs both discrete and packaged with other system components (in SoCs) act as a broadband processor controlling the output of phones' radio device. Infineon's smartphone plan presently looks bullish, with the company looking to "ramp-up of new smartphone and entry-level phone platforms at several major customers." That kind of drive obviously has the potential for great financial profitability, a tempting proposition for Intel. On the other hand, another implication of the purchase, if it goes through, would be to create uncertainty, for ARM-based smartphones like the iPhone or Android Galaxy S. These phones use ARM CPUs, but currently rely on discrete Infineon wireless communication chips. Presumably Intel would want to keep that business alive -- especially since it pulled in 346M € ($439M USD) last fiscal quarter. A decision to slow development on discrete offerings in favor of x86 SoC designs, though, could be used to force x86 onto the smartphone market. Neither company has officially acknowledge talks. Infineon officials would only say their company has made "significant progress" with an unnamed buyer interested in the wireless unit. Intel has not commented on the talks. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

HTC Posts Record Revenue

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010
Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC continues to impress with record second-quarter revenues and a 32.8 percent jump in profit. The world’s fourth-largest smartphone vendor yesterday reported a 58.5 percent year-on-year jump in revenue, to NT$60.53 billion (US$1.88 billion), whilst unaudited net profit came in at a 2.5-year high (NT$8.64 billion/US$268 million). This was the company’s highest quarterly unaudited net profit since it reported a NT$9.99 billion net profit for the fourth quarter of 2007, before Taiwanese companies started to treat employee bonuses as expenses. The results far exceeded internal expectations; in late April the company said it expected second-quarter revenue to grow to NT$50 billion and handset shipments to rise 50 percent from a year earlier to 4.5 million units. “Both June and 2Q revenues continuously hit record highs, [showing] good execution of brand strategy and grow scale strategy,” noted HTC in a statement. HTC is a fast-rising player in the mobile handset space. Originally a contract maker of phones, it began making own-brand devices a few years ago and is now regarded as one of the most innovative smartphone manufacturers. As well as being the world's largest maker of phones using Microsoft's operating system (OS) in terms of shipments, it is also arguably the biggest proponent of Google’s Android OS, producing critically acclaimed high-end devices such as the Droid Incredible, Desire and Evo. Analysts expect the strong momentum to continue in the second half of the year. Yuanta Securities analyst Bonnie Chang told Dow Jones Newswires she expects HTC's shipments to rise to 20 million units this year, up from 12 million in 2009. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

Nokia MeeGo OS Devices At Year End

Thursday, July 1st, 2010
Nokia today said it expects to launch the first high-end devices based on its new MeeGo operating system around year-end and ruled out any plans to support the rival Android platform. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, new mobile solutions chief Anssi Vanjoki said MeeGo will be the base for a wide array of new computer-like devices (eg tablets) as the market for handheld gadgets diversifies. MeeGo will support a rich environment for application development and strong support for functions such as GPS and Bluetooth, Mr Vanjoki added. Meanwhile, he confirmed that Nokia doesn’t plan to launch any phones based on the increasingly popular Android platform because it can create more value by building its own hardware and software. Last week Nokia confirmed it is to ditch Symbian software for its future high-end smartphones, turning instead to the Linux-based MeeGo platform formed from its joint venture with Intel. The Finnish company’s next smartphone, the N8, will be the last N-series phone running Symbian software. The N8 will be launched in the third quarter and will run the upgraded Symbian 3 platform. Nokia will continue to use Symbian for its vast portfolio of cheaper smartphones. Announced at the GSMA Mobile World Congress earlier this year, MeeGo combines Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo open source projects into one Linux-based software platform hosted by the Linux Foundation. The project has already received backing from France Telecom’s Orange and Telefonica, as well as numerous OEMs and application developers. The platform is the latest open-source mobile operating system to take on Google’s Android, which is also Linux-based. In related news, Nokia and Intel have released an early version of the Linux-based MeeGo mobile OS to developers, in preparation of the launch of a retail-ready version in October. The joint MeeGo Project has made programming APIs, parts of the handset reference UI and the MeeGo Core OS available, and has stuck by Linux tradition by also releasing the source code. According to MeeGo Project, the release also marks the completion of the combination of Nokia's Maemo and Intel's Moblin OSes. Screenshots and video of MeeGo have appeared on the MeeGo website. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/

European Roaming Cap In Force

Thursday, July 1st, 2010
European travellers using mobile devices while away from home will have to explicitly agree to charges beyond EUR50 a month for downloading data, under European Union rules that come into force today. The measure is designed to prevent ‘bill shock,’ when users unwittingly run up large roaming bills while overseas, and is the latest Brussels initiative to regulate the price of foreign mobile phone use. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3G homepage.com The Number 1 Homepage Download into 3G Mobile/Cell Phones ADD OUR FEED: COPY THIS ADDRESS INTO YOUR NEWSREADER: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php OR: RSS2: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/ Atom: http://3ghomepage.com/wordpress/index.php/index.php/feed/atom/
